Welcome to the New Arkansas District Classifieds.
You will be able to post your ads and have them appear instantly. You will also be able to edit an ad if the need arises. I hope you will find the new classifieds easy to use and useful. There are just a few things that you should know before you begin.
When you are entering your ad you will be asked for some data. The first thing you will enter is the title for the ad. This title will not be displayed in the ad text. It is for the file name to store the ad. You will need this title to edit the ad or if for some reason you need me to help you with it.
The next thing you will be asked is for a password. The password is for this ad only and you can use the same password for all ads or a different one for each ad, your choice. When the ad is purged, the password is purged for that ad. Each ads password is stored with the ad and is not a global password. You cannot edit you ad without the Ad Title and Password for that ad so please write them down.
The rest of the information is straight forward and you shouldn’t have any trouble. You will be presented with a preview of the ad before it is placed. If you don’t like it or need to change something just use your browsers back button and correct it.
When you enter the asking price you can use whatever format you choose since it is a text field and not a numeric field. So you can enter “Free”, “Best Offer”, “$300.00 OBO”, $500.00”, “500” or most anything that is appropriate. It will be displayed as the asking price. Use the Description area to expand on your idea.
If you want to enter a phone number or other contact information, you should enter it in the description area. Your e-mail address will be entered separately so the web page can create a link for viewers to contact you via email.
You will notice a button at the bottom of the data entry page titled Step Two. This is where you will be able to ad a photo to the ad. For security reasons you must use jpg format photos only. Gif’s and other formats will not work. Your photo should be no wider than 590 pixels so it will fit the page format. Wider photos will upload but they will then be automatically resized. This will just cause the upload and conversion to take longer and you loose control over quality. Also there just isn’t any reason to have the photo with a resolution greater that 72 dpi. It just takes longer to download and doesn’t display any better. Besides if it takes too long to download, they might just click on the back button and never see you ad.
Once everything is to your liking, click on the “Create the Ad” button and you are done. Your ad will be posted and viewable by all visitors. If you sell your item please edit your ad to say the item has been sold or send me an e-mail and I will delete it for you. Please feel free to post as many non-commercial ads as you like. You will just have to be sure and give each ad a different title. The system will not allow multiple ads with the same ad title.
If your ad doesn't appear to update or something isn't there, use your browsers refresh button. Pages are updated dynamically and your browser may not keep up. If in doubt, refresh.
I hope this information is helpful and I didn’t bore you too much. Really after you post one ad you will be an expert. I hope your ads find great success and you will want to keep using them. Please check back often to view others ads and help this site become useful for all who use it.
Ride safe,
Bill Shryock - Webmaster
